About this event
2023 Question Your Beliefs
Dates: 4th Tuesdays, starting January 24th
Time: 3:00 - 4:30pm MT
Location: Zoom Meeting Room
CCEs: 1.5 in Resource Development
Minimum: 5; Maximum: 20
Great coaches demonstrate respect for the client’s identity, perceptions, style and language, and remain aware of and open to the influence of context and culture on themselves and others.* But how do we challenge our own perceptions of context and culture? In this discussion group, we will boldly dive into issues of identity, culture, differences, and how our own blind spots may create an uncomfortable or even unsafe space for our clients. Raising our own awareness of these issues can be awkward or painful, but worth it to help us better serve our clients. Join us!
Key Learning Points, Outcomes and Benefits for Participants:
Participants will learn to identify where they may have blind spots with respect to differences, what it means to be a safe person, and how to navigate challenges in our current charged environment.
We will focus on ICF Core Competencies, especially "demonstrate respect for the client’s identity, perceptions, style and language" and "remain aware of and open to the influence of context and culture on themselves and others."
This group will be in discussion format, and we will learn from each other while discussing materials related to the topic.
We will share resources and encourage ongoing conversation in a Basecamp group between group meetings.
