How can we respect our coaching clients if we are not aware of our beliefs?
We will create a safe space where participants will co-create the learning about how our beliefs influence our interactions and our introspection. The group will explore how beliefs and ideas can be challenged, focusing on issues of race and oppression.
Key Learning Points & Benefits for Participants:
A key Core Competency is "develops an ongoing reflective practice to enhance one's coaching," and this group will be a space for reflection.
Core Competencies that will be addressed in this group:
- Demonstrates Ethical Practice: Is sensitive to clients' identity, environment, experiences, values and beliefs.
- Embodies a Coaching Mindset: Remains aware of and open to the influence of context and culture on self and others.
- Cultivates Trust and Safety: Seeks to understand the client within their context which may include their identity, environment, experiences, values and beliefs, and Demonstrates respect for the client’s identity, perceptions, style and language and adapts one's coaching to the client.
- Listens Actively: Considers the client’s context, identity, environment, experiences, values and beliefs to enhance understanding of what the client is communicating.
- Evokes Awareness: Considers client experience when deciding what might be most useful, and Asks questions about the client, such as their way of thinking, values, needs, wants and beliefs.
Experiential Learning Through:
Sessions will be co-created sessions to support deep learning and moving knowledge from head to heart.
We will help participants create actions between sessions to help them work on whatever challenge they have chosen.

She believes that we all can benefit from discussing our relation to bias and racism and wants ICF-CO to have a place for this discussion!
Hilda Gehrke

Hilda Gehrke is a Social Leadership and Personal Development Coach, Facilitator, Trainer, and Interpreter who migrated from Mexico in 1996. She has been an interpreter for more than 9 years in different settings. Hilda graduated with a B.S. in Psychology from Regis University and completed her training as an Ontological Coach from Newfield Network, INC; she obtained her certification as a Certified Newfield Coach (NCC) and has more than 200 hours of experience as a group and personal coach. Hilda obtained her certification in Social and Emotional Intelligence from ISEI® and has trained as a Points of You® facilitator. She is a current member of the International Coaching Federation Colorado Chapter (ICF-CO).
Hilda has facilitated multiple coaching sessions for organizations like The Aurora Community Campus, Adelante Jeffco Network and Latinos Age Wave Colorado. She is an accredited Family Leadership Training Institute Facilitator (FLTI) and is one of the facilitators for the Jeffco cohort. Hilda has received training as Cooperative Developer from the Community Wealth and she is actively developing immigrant own cooperatives. Hilda’s facilitation style combines her personal experiences with her professional experiences as a manager, community leader, interpreter and uses her skills as a coach to make her training highly interactive and introspective. Hilda has participated in equity and diversity training with Transformative Alliances, and she brings her perspective as a member of the immigrant community to ensure diverse voices are part of the decision-making process.
